Reasoning
I guess I should also explain the reasoning behind my idea. Makes sense to I guess. Well, I always see and hear about these guys that travel the country on baseball stadium tours. Not that I am knocking that idea in anyway, however to know and understand me at all, is to realize that I am the epitome of ADHD. I cannot under any circumstances sit through not only one but numerous baseball games. However, horse racing, at 2 minutes each race is something right up my alley. My limited attention span is best suited for a sport such as horse racing.
Intro
So where to begin? My name is Matthew Downs. I am a high school teacher in the lovely city of Philadelphia. I teach 11th and 12th grade Social Studies and my true love is horse racing. That being said, my goal is to visit every thoroughbred racetrack in North America (granted I would love to see Longchamp and Ascot). With me on this experiment are my friends who will help me to judge and blog about each track. First is Jason Miller, my partner in crime, and the person responsible for reviewing and grading such things as food, facilities (bathrooms) and the like. Next is Andy Adams, a horse racing lover (who picked Mine That Bird in the Derby), who will judge ambiance and overall customer satisfaction. (Warning!!!! He may be the most negative person EVER). And me, Matthew Downs. I will judge racing product and the such. I hope this will be a great journey from our first stop Philly Park onward this year, where we hope to visit at least 15 tracks. And away we go.......
